The Other Person

You didn’t know it, but I watched you sitting there. You were staring out the window of your mind, in deep thought. Not the you that I come face to face with, but the person that is within.
Your smile is a cover up for those who can’t see beyond your mask. I caught a glimpse of the real you, the personality that wants so desperately to come out.
Your not sure if conditions are right or if the person of your dreams has arrived.
Your spirit is filled with fire and desire. The passion you possess is longing and wanting to escape the bondage and confinement of that lonely private world you live in.
You exist behind a wall, to protect your identity. You must guard your kind and loving spirit, from the pain of broken promises and unfaithful friendships of the past.
I saw you through my extra sensory perception. I looked beyond the facade of that outward appearance into the window of you soul.
I saw you in a vision, reflected from your inner karma.
I crossed a barrier climbed over a wall looked down inside and saw the truth. It was not the outward representation you display for those whom you deceive, but the inner spirit you conceal and hold for those you love.
You see, we are spirits that have discernment once we learn to use it.
We can feel what is not always expressed by others and sometimes predict what is yet to happen.
Some of us possess this innate power, this uncanny presence of mind, to see things far off.
We feel vibrations emitted through the airwaves. It is the unseen energy that touches our emotions that cause us to react.
There are times that two people connect for a split second on an astral plain, in a world of possibilities not yet made into reality.
I recognize your inner beauty. You are Royalty, special in my eyes, a polished diamond, a treasure, a rainbow in the sky.  The glow of a rare illuminating light rises from deep down in your soul. I believe God created you to be a Queen. Lift your head high and wear your crown proudly.

My Mother's Pearls

My mother left me pearls of wisdom and knowledge.
Her words of encouragement and advice glow in my mind.
The stories she told me are still so vivid in my thoughts.
She spoke to me in song and entertained me with her humor.
My courage was tested by pranks she performed at random.
She taught me how to look at the world, and study people.
Her insight to situations and problem solving was phenomenal.
I learned the value of detail and small things through the
understanding she shared with me. I realized that big is not always
better and all that shines is not gold. She always admonished me.
" Son your to young now but one day you will understand.
Make haste while the sun is shining but don't rush to get old.
You'll be old soon enough."
I was in a hurry to grow up, and do the things grown folks do.
The bible says, and I quote, " Train a child in the way he should
go, and when he is old he will not depart from it."
The treasure of her pearls have ancient value.
I have been enriched by the those pearls that I carry in my heart.
They guide me and point out the direction I should take.
Those pearls sparkle from inside of me and reflect outwardly.
I use them and spend their value in life.
They buy me friendship and connect me to important situations.
You see!.. in society you sell yourself and convince others of
who you are by the content of your character. That inner value spills
out for the world to see. What has been invested in you will eventually
pay dividends. Mother is gone now but I keep those pearls polished
an on display. I know that they will never loose their value and I will
never trade them in.

Madame Bouvet

                                                 The French Quarter New Orleans

By design she spoke sparingly. She had re-invented her self and perfected her new personality.
Cultivating her style took a little work but she was a professional. She transformed from a beaten and abused prostitute to a woman of sultry elegance. She was experienced now and was her own boss.
Years of a hard life, left a few wrinkles and furrows that make-up was able to diminish revealing her hidden beauty.
The madame still had something going on. Clearly she had seen her better days. Shoulders straight, back arched, hand on her curvaceous hips, she was statuesque.
Business was slow today, but the madame had mastered patience.
There was a rap on the door. The madame opened and who was standing there but Reverend Leroy from the Tenth Memorial Baptist Church with his bible in hand.
Reverend Leroy was short and thin with a heavy mustache, a fox like man.
"Come in Reverend"
As he entered  the Madame Bouvet balancing her cigarette holder between her finger tips said,
" Can I help you Rev.?"
The Nervous Minister replied.
" I just stopped by to personally invite you to our annual community church picnic."
He handed her a flyer.
The madame took the flyer, then focused her extremely piercing eyes on the minister. Her high cheek bones protruding, head slightly turned  for a better view, she was in deep thought.
" Can I offer you anything Reverend?"
" No.. I best be going."
" Sir or Reverend...I would like to ask a favor of you, If I may...... before you go.
" What is that madame?"
" Would you pray with me?"
" Well......aahh!!.... I'm not sure.... well aahh"   the reverend hesitating and stuttering .....
why.... well yes!"
"Well then .. follow me Rev....I have an appropriate place for us to pray.
Madame Bouvet's intentions were not designed for spiritual inclinations but purely exploitation.
This would require her special attention and Reverend Leroy's utmost self control.
"How much religion does this man really have,"....... thought the plotting Madame Bouvet.
" Just wait till he sees what I have in store for him."
Before Reverend Leroy became a minister, he had been a womanizer. He would stay out all night get drunk and chase the women. Sex was his weakness. He joined the church, repented, and began to walk the straight and narrow. That was fifteen years before this visit to Madame Bouvet.
Walking the straight and narrow does not mean one will not encounter bumps in the road.
With the right buttons pushed old thoughts can come creeping back into one's head. Temptation is the mother of bad tidings.  There have been classic struggles of emotions between survival and conquest. The weak fall by the wayside loosing name and honor while to the strong goes the victory. Powerful men have been known to succumb to the superior strength of a woman's charms.
The Madame ask the reverend to wait in her bedroom, while she took leave to to attend to a situation with her girls.
The room was warm, cozy, and beautifully decorated. It was furnished with a couch, recliner, and a king sized bed with four tall posts supporting a covered top. It was fit for royalty. There were beautiful antigue lamps, colorful draperies, and pictures on the wall. There was an overpowering stimulating odor of perfume permeating the bedroom.
As the Reverend observed his surroundings, he began to think.
" What did I get my self into?"
When Madame Bouvet returned, the reverend immediately went on the defense.
"Madame!!... please don't get the wrong idea!!..... I only came here to extend an invitation.
You asked for prayer, that's what I'll do then leave."
Madame Bouvet laughed and said......
" Why......Reverend are you afraid I might try to seduce you?'
The reverend nervously replied ..
"Madame I have an obligation to my God and my congregation.........I can't let you cause me to stumble." Ignoring his words, the Madame slowing walked close to the rev. with scintillating, and seductive movements, as Reverend Leroy struggled to maintain his composure.
Suddenly the madame unbuttoned her gown, and grabbed his crouch.
" Please please Madame Bouvet.... don't do that!"
She pushed him down on the bed and kissed him as his cries of ....
"Stop,.. stop "...grew weaker and weaker. Reverend leroy was ready to surrender to the superior power of the madame's charms.
  Then she said...
" Are you ready for me .....Reverend?"...... Rev. Leroy gulped, took a deep breath of air and swallowed his words of protest. His cries of stop got stuck in his throat and refused to come out again. He was at the brink with no more strength to resist.
" Yes I'm ready.... I'm ready....please forgive me lord."
As the reverend began to undress, the Madame started laughing at him...... Startled!...he asked...
" What's so funny?"
"Did you really think that I was going all the way with you.. Rev?.... First Of all....I don't do
freebee's and I don't do preachers. I was just having a little fun with you Reverend.
Thanks for your prayer offer, but no thanks today!
Reverend take your time and button up, one of my girls will see you out.
Oh!.... and Reverend...please... don't forget your bible.

The Replacement Bureau

                                                       The Replacement Bureau

The more you live, the more you learn. The more you learn, the more you want to know.
The amazing thing about life is, it takes you on a journey. You  enjoy the ride until it drops you off at the last stop with a no-return ticket. It recycles itself to the next human being after you have crossed over to experienced the ultimate learning adventure that you can share with no one.
You go out this world the same way you came in ..... alone.  You go on the other side of the curtain, where so many have gone before you. Millions of the living wait their turn.
Its all a facade, and illusion, this thing called life. Your fleshly house of many years becomes separated from your spirit and soul. The shell that was once your body is useless, inoperable and only good for fertilizer or possum food.
God is your only hope. You have now entered the realm we call the unknown or the hereafter where God is in full control.
Since we know this, why don't we talk more about God, heaven and hell, death, life and eternity.
What about the retribution of punishment for sin and the glory of reward for righteous living.
Many of us travel through life with blind ambition as though God does not exist.
Some seek fame and fortune while others want power even though death is always at our side.
We are made so wonderfully by the creator that many of us never worry until the end.
The facade is that every thing seems to be unchanging and forever when in reality nothing could be farther from the truth. We look for tomorrow in the shadow of today while today could be our last.
Some people do not believe there is a God. They believe in the big bang theory or Charles Darwin or some other belief. So when your dead your done.
The earth has millions of people yet many more millions of people have left this earth then our now presently here. Where are they? It's so amazing. In the next 100 or so years every living person that now exist upon this earth will be gone from here forever.
They will all have replacements if life continues on this planet. That
fact is incredible. It is also our reality whether we choose to face it or not.
We are born, and rocked in the cradle, live our 24/7, have our day of fame and fun, live our trial, then planted in the ground. We leave all our worldly possessions behind. We become memories that fade in time
and dissipate like a breath of hot air blowing in the wind or pissing against the tide. A number in the replacement bureau.

A Word On Wurd

Wurd radio 900 on the Am dial here in the city of Philadelphia Pa. is truly a great radio station.
The broadcasting seems to improve with every season change. It is a daily requirement for my
schedule. It's like taking your vitamin pills.
The information and education offered by the station is so vital to the survival of our
community at large. The radio station's news media is such a powerful force in shaping the public's opinion. It is vital to the African American Community and can be instrumental in changing lives.
The station not only caters to and attracts black audiences but all ethnic groups.
The the personalities that provide the commentary, information, and educational shows are of
extremely high quality. One listening to this station should always have pen and paper handy.
I have heard life saving information in health reports, money making and tips on financial
matters, Religious, political and educational matters. It represents the voice of the people.
In Africa's history, it was the voice of the drum sending messages through the airwaves. Before
talk radio here in Black America there were black newspapers books and word of mouth.

During slavery there were codes and underground information.
Today in this highly technical civilization we live in we have the computer with its cyberspace
highway providing an explosion of information and knowledge.
Wurd breaks the news down into smaller pieces for us to digest.
It's so sad that many Philadelphians are not tuned in to this station I've talked to a few. But when
I come across them I put the ...Wurd out.
Congradulations to a great station and thanks to the late Dr. Walter Lomax who made this possible. Thanks to Sara Lomax Reese President Of Wurd who is doing a great and historical job.
I quote, " THE GLORY OF OUR STORY IS IN THE MYSTERY OF OUR HISTORY " I read this on an illustration of art work. It is so true.
Our stories have been denied and hidden from us. Information that we need must have a airway for us to receive. We have so many brilliant scholars, teachers , doctors etc. We need to hear from them. We have contributed so much to this society, yet much of it goes unrecognized.
     Thank You!!     WURD    Lets keep

WHAT IS A FRIEND

Is friendship a Sacred Bond, sealed by an oath of allegiance between two people or a group.
Does friendship require dedication and loyalty? I think so.
A friend is faithful. One who will listen to your words and truthfully give an unbiased opinion.
One who will keep your secrets and come to your rescue when you are in need; always willing to lend a helping hand. Some one to talk to when your spirits are low and you need a conversation.
One who will love you for who you are unconditionally not looking for anything in return.
One who will not forsake you when times are desperate.
A friend is not always a mom or a dad, though they can be.
A friend is not always a husband a wife or a lover, though they can be. Not a
member of your extended family, or your children though they can be. Not necessary a brother
or a sister, though they can be.
A friend holds a very special position in ones life.
Friends come in every category and description.
Sometimes the one you consider least likely to hold that position, could possibly become your
best friend.
A friend is a special title not bound by any particular parameters.
Everyone you call your friend is not really your friend . They only temporary occupy the
space of a friend.
How many friends can you truly say you have. Think about it!
In your entire life how many true friends have you ever had.
Who do you trust with your secrets.
Beware of the leeches and parasites that want to use you in the name of friendship.
Look out for those that follow you because of your success or money.
Be weary of those who are attracted to your beauty or your physical status. They exploit you at face value but never truly understand you.
Some want you for what you can give them and have nothing to give in return.
True friendship can be felt at the heart. It's like a spiritual connection
What is a friend to you.?

Debbie Allen

Debbie Allen took time out from her Broadway show rehearsals to come to the International House located at 3701 Chestnut Street, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on July 2, 2014 to have a conversation with her Philly fans. Her show, Brothers of The Knight: A Toe Tapping Musical, performed at the Merriam Theatre started July 3, 2014.
Debbie was down to earth, entertaining and very compassionate about helping new talent reach their goals. She was serious about taking others along on her journey to success. I was moved by her statements of giving back. She pointed out that those of us who have succeeded in our goals must reach back and help someone else get to the top.
She also spoke of how she sat at the feet of the famous dancer Catherine Dunham and learned about her craft. Debbie got where she's at by working hard and being consistent. Debbie, the sister of Phylicia Rashad comes from a family of talented members. She spoke of her brother, a jazz trumpet player and thanked her mother, also a talented woman for instilling toughness in her spirit. She has directed many Broadway shows and also directed the television classics,  Fame, Scandal, Grey's Anatomy, A DifferentWorld, Thats So Raven ands others.

She has travelled all over the world and brought a wealth of information to her conversation.
Debbie Allen has truly reached stratospheric heights in the world of entertainment yet she is not so lofty that she can't swoop down to help a struggling potential newcomer.

From Here To Eternity

The actors have determined to create real life scenes for mature audiences. Parental discretion is advised. Our setting takes place in the city of Philadelphia, PA. The genre, is violent crime.
The opening scene takes place in a well known crime infested community in the Germantown section of Philadelphia. While driving toward Germantown Ave I run into a police blockade with a yellow caution taped off area.  Several patrol cars line the street with plainclothes detectives and high ranking white shirt officers. They have provided a route for traffic to bypass the area with an Officer directing and urging the traffic on.
A shooting took place. Officers are looking for shell casings and other evidence. Pedestrians stand off in the distance and watch the activities.
Another life was taken. Another body for the morgue. A shooting took place. This has become a regular occurrence here in the city. As I travel throughout the city, I am reminded of the danger that lurks throughout. There are locations where candles and teddybears along with various items
pay tribute to fallen victims. This city is in a crisis of crime.
Robberies and home invasions are reported on the morning news, while early risers are having their coffee. Shocking and amazing stories are so common that they become the norm for life in the big city. We have become immune to the shock of hearing these tragic  reports in the news.
An old high school friend ,who now lives in California ,emphatically replied to a question I asked him.
" When are you coming back to Philadelphia to visit?" I asked ...." Never!!"
He grew up in Philadelphia near 25th and Columbia Avenue now called Cecil B. Moore Ave.
I suppose he got his fill of this city, probably enough to last a life time.
I recall the many wild west cowboy movies I saw. There was always plenty shootings in those towns. There was always a hero in those days, one who would show up to save the day. The hero or heroes would take on the outlaws and run them out of town. They would be rewarded with a beautiful sweetheart at the end of the movie. Most would rather ride off into the sunset after kissing the sweetheart goodbye. Their love was for the saddle rather than the sac.
Who will come to save our day? Not the Lone Ranger and Tonto......  Al Sharpton ? Jessie Jackson? The NAACP, the National Action Network, The President ,The Pope?...   Yes Jesus Loves Us! but there are some things we must do for ourselves. We as citizens will somehow have to save our day.
Well this movie continues on to the next chapter. The plot is still unfolding on the blood stained streets of Philadelphia. One thing is for sure. We know that many of the victims are now in eternity. And the actors are real.

17th Annual Wellness Breakfast For Men

On Sunday March 9th 2014 The Mens Breakfast hosted by Kenny Gamble featured Dr Fredrick Burton, Dr. Liu, Dr Glen Ellis and Raheem Islam assisted in the in the hosting. The event took place at the Universal Charter School located in South Philly  1427 Catherine St. The purpose for the breakfast
was to promote good health in men by educating and information. Kenny Gamble's wife was very instrumental in developing the concept over 17

years ago.
The Charter School, where the breakfast was being held, was an excellent model for schools. The class rooms were very neat and inviting for developing minds. The hallways were well maintained  and pleasant. Once we entered the cafeteria area there were servers waiting to serve us with delicious food. There was plenty of healthy food to eat. Fruit, coffee, juice and pastry were also available. It was truly a wonderful meal.
Dr. Glen Ellis brought out amazing facts about African American youth and their statistics on sexually transmitted deceases. Gonorrhea and Syphilis as well as HIV is prevalent in a significant percentage of youth. This is a dangerous era for sexual promiscuity.
Dr Liu the dentist presented a case for conventional style tooth cleaning explaining alternative methods. He explained how and off balanced dental structure can upset the balance of body structure. His holistic approach to dental care was very refreshing.
Dr. Fredrick Burton was the main speaker of the day. He closed out with an awesome and comprehensive breakdown on the biological effects of elements in the body. He explained how they control what happens. His scientific and holistic approach to medicine has earned him the reputation of being one of the most successful and knowledgeable doctors in the country if not the world. He along with Dr. Liu are my doctors.

2014 The New Year

The time is now. We have been blessed to see 2014. Lets make this year a great history event.
